The council's Chairman, Igwe Chukwuemeka Ilouno, who spoke on behalf of the council, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu on Friday that Odulana’s death was a great loss to the nation.
NAN recalls that the Olubadan died on Tuesday at 101 years.
“We thank God for granting him long life and making his life impactful to the peace and stability of the country.
“He saw it all from the colonial to the post-colonial days and had enough hind-sight to give appropriate and directional advice for the way forward.
Ilouno, who is also the traditional ruler of Ifitedunu Kingdom, noted that the late centenarian was a rallying figure among his colleagues.
“Another striking achievement of the Olubadan was his relentless push for the current recognition of the rights and privileges of the traditional institution in the country.
“May his gentle soul, which radiated wisdom and faith in the unity of the country, rest in the bosom of the Lord,’’ he said.
