IPOB leader’s father thanks Buhari for son’s release

HRH Kanu also advised the Biafra protesters to go about their agitations in a peaceful manner.

The father of the Nnamdi Kanu, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, His Royal Higness- Eze  Israel Kanu, has thanked President Buhari for releasing his son.

He said “My family and the entire people of Afara Ukwu are happy over the release of our son and we shall continue to thank God and Nigerians for this happy event.”

Adding that he was grateful for the prayers and intervention of well-meaning Nigerians.

The Abuja Federal High Court, presided over by Justice Adeniyi Ademola on Thursday, December 17, 2015, ordered the immediate release of the Radio Biafra Director.

Adding that his continued detention by the Department of States Services (DSS) was illegal.

Biafra loyalists across the South-East held protests calling for his release.

The Igbo socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo also lent their voice to the call for the release of the IPOB leader.

A massive protest was also held by Biafra loyalists in Lagos state, at the popular Alaba International Market toshow solidarity for Kanu.

The protest was held in defiance of the stern warning issued to the traders by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos state.

Nnamdi Kanu was reportedly arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) in his hotel room.
