The Federal Government said the revocation is on the grounds that Kanu flouted the terms and conditions of the bail.

Kanu, who is the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), is being prosecuted along with others on treasonable felony charges.

Justice Binta Nyako granted him bail in April on 12 conditions, which the IPOB leader's camp described as stringent and unfair.

The Federal Government, however, on Friday, August 25, 2017, filed an application before the court, seeking a revocation of the bail.

According to Punch, Kanu has also been served a copy of the application.

The application was issued to newsmen in Abuja by the Special Assistant to the Attorney-General of the Federation on Media and Publicity, Mr. Salihu Isah.

The conditions are:

- Kanu must not hold rallies.

- He must not grant interviews.

- He must not be in a crowd of more than 10 people.

- He must provide three sureties in the sum of N100 million each.

- One of the sureties must be a senior highly placed person of Igbo extraction such as a senator.

- The second surety must be a highly respected Jewish leader since Kanu said his religion is Judaism

- The third surety must be a highly respected person who owns landed property and is resident in Abuja

- The IPOB leader must deposit his Nigerian passport

- He must also deposit his British passport with the court

- He must provide the court with reports on the progress of his health and treatment on a monthly basis.

In the revocation application, the Federal Government pieced together Kanu's alleged acts of serial violation of the bail conditions imposed by the court.

It said the IPOB leader has defeated the essence of the bail, which was for him to seek medical treatment.

Listing some of the violations, the prosecution said Kanu inaugurated a security outfit known as the Biafra Security Service.

It also gave an instance of how Kanu allegedly incited his followers "to disrupt, disallow and boycott elections in south East states, starting with Anambra State governorship election scheduled to hold onvbNovember 18, 2017, if the Federal Government failed to hold a referendum for the realisation of the state of Biafra nation."
