DSS wants to charge Radio Biafra boss with terrorism

The DSS requested to discontinue Kanu’s trial today, November 23, 2015, at a Senior Magistrates’ Court in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja.

Radio Biafra boss, Nnamdi Kanu

The Department of State Services (DSS) is seeking to charge the Director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu with terrorism, reports say.

The DSS requested to discontinue Kanu’s trial today, November 23, 2015, at a Senior Magistrates’ Court in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja, Vanguard reports.

According to prosecution counsel, Moses Idakwo, the DSS had found some facts which showed that the accused had been involved in terrorism and had also been financing terrorism hence the matter was no longer under the jurisdiction of the court.

“The complainant is, therefore, applying to discontinue the matter under section 108(1) of administration of criminal justice act 2015.” Idakwo said.

Kanu is currently standing trial on a three-count charge of criminal conspiracy, intimidation and belonging to an unlawful society.

The Radio Biafra boss was arrested in October and supposedly granted bail but he was never freed. Cases of terrorism are heard by the Federal High Court.

The case has been adjourned to December 1 for ruling.
