Nigerians woke up on Wednesday, March 21, 2018, to the news of the return of 105 of the 110 abducted schoolgirls from Government Girls Science and Technical College, Dapchi, Yobe State.

The release comes 32 days after their abduction by Boko Haram terrorists on Monday, February 19, 2018.

The federal government have also confirmed release of the Dapchi girls.

In a statement made available to Pulse, the minister of information, Lai Mohammed said the schoolgirls were released unconditionally.

“The girls were released around 3 a.m through back-channel efforts and with the help of some friends of the country, and that it was unconditional,” Mohammed said.

''For the release to work, the government had a clear understanding that violence and confrontation would not be the way out as it could endanger the lives of the girls, hence a non-violent approach was the preferred option.
''Within the period when the girls were being brought back, operational pause was observed in certain areas to ensure free passage and also that lives were not lost,''
he added.

Defence minister, Masur Dan-Ali, had said that the girls would return soon.

Journalists were, however, barred from gaining entrance to Dapchi town to witness the release.

But Nigerians have been reacting to the release of the Dapchi schoolgirls.

While some Nigerians expressed joy over the release of the Dapchi girls, others are of the view that they were released for a ransom.

Here are some Twitter reactions to the release of the girls.
