Boroh urges youths, ex-agitators to embrace peace

The is following a statement issued by Niger Delta militants ordering Northerners out of the Niger Delta region before October 1, 2017.

Boroh also the Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta Affairs made this call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) on Friday in Abuja.

The Presidential aide said, “Most of the crises in the country are perpetrated by the youths. Youths constitute the largest in the country;

“They play very important role in the progress of the country, and are mostly affected when there is crisis as they are brainwashed into carrying arms to perpetrate violence against their country to what end I don’t know,” he said.

He said it is a good thing for Nigerian youths to live in peace with one another in order to promote environment conducive for the development of the nation.

The Presidential aide said a meeting was organised to create a synergy between Youths of the Niger Delta Region and Northern Nigeria with the target of uniting Youths from every part of the country.

Boroh called on the youths to preach peace to all their friends and colleagues, urging them to focus on the collective progress and unity of the nation.

He, however, advised all youths to avoid being idle and recommended agriculture as the easiest way to stay occupied and remain self-sufficient.

The Coordinator expressed delight that the delegation of Northern Youths, who is actually the Speaker of the Arewa Youth Parliament, Dr Mulid Bashir, was quick to denounce the recent pronouncement by some Northern Youths, asking citizens from the East to vacate the North before October 1.

According to Boroh, Bashir said the Northern region is fully committed to the unity of Nigeria.

“The Medical Doctor/ Parliamentarian asked all to disregard any hate speech from any source, highlighted that all those actions are being sponsored by a very few, who want chaos in the current administration.

“He called on his brothers from other regions to join him in spreading the word of peace everywhere,” Boroh said.

He called on youths to give President Buhari the moral support in order to ensure success in the ongoing fight against corruption and insecurity.
