The Nasarawa State Command of the National Drug and Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), March 20, has seized 535kg of narcotic and psychotropic substances in the process, the agency announced on Friday, March 20.

The anti-graft agency arrested 63 persons in connection to the drugs.

The head of the agency in Nasarawa, Sumaila Ethan, told journalists in Lafia that the suspects were apprehended in the Yankaddle village, Keffi Local Government area. He revealed that four suspects were arrested, prosecuted and convicted at the Federal High Court, Lafia, the state capital.

“In the first quarter of 2015, 63 suspects were arrested and about five hundred and thirty five kilograms of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances were seized. “One of the most sensational arrest and seizure that we have made is that of two drug barons who were conveying 55 bags of cannabis sativa in a Toyota Siena SUV,” Ethan said.
