Mustapha, Shofolayan Kudirat Abiola's alleged killers return to court as appeal commences

Alleged killers of late Kudirat Abiola are scheduled to return to court as the Lagos state filed an appeal for their acquittal.

Maj. Hamza al-Mustapha and Lateef Shofolahan returned to the Supreme Court on Thursday, October 3, 2016 following an appeal filed by the Lagos State Government.

According to a report by Punch Newspaper, al-Mustapha and Shofolahan return to court to defend themselves over the alleged murder of Kudirat Abiola.

The appeal is coming after the Lagos State government challenged the judgment of the Court of Appeal which acquitted al-Mustapha and Shofolahan of the murder of wife of MKO Abiola.

The Lagos State Government filed the appeal, SC/45/2014, to challenge the judgment of the appeal court in 2014.

Kudirat, wife of the acclaimed winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election, Chief MKO Abiola, was gunned down in Lagos on June 4, 1996.
