DSS releases arms panel member after 5 months in detention

Umar was a member of the Presidential Investigative Committee on Arms Procurement set up by President Buhari to probe arms purchase by the military.
The DSS arraigned Umar in court in July 21, 2016, over allegations of money laundering, possession of fire arms and violation of official secret act.
He was however granted bail in the sum of N100 million and two sureties in the sum of N50 million each, by Justice Nnamdi Dimgba.
The DSS refused to grant him bail despite several reprimands by Justice Dimgba.
According to Premium Times, Justice Dimgba then vowed not to continue with the case Umar’s case, unless the DSS releases him.
Sahara Reporters also reported that Umar was being forced by the DSS to implicate Ibrahim Magu,the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) boss.
