‘Nigeria will continue to suffer till Nnamdi Kanu is released,’ Group says

The comment was made via a statement released by the group’s National Director of Information, Samuel Edeson on Thursday, April 7, 2016.

Nnamdi Kanu, director of the banned Radio Biafra, was detained by secret police on 17 October and accused of terrorism.

The comment was made via a statement released by the group’s National Director of Information, Samuel Edeson on Thursday, April 7, 2016.

It reads:

“The Leader of MASSOB, Mr. Uchenna Madu was invited alongside other World leaders of self-determination groups, saying that he will attend the conference with 7 man delegation of MASSOB National Executive officials.”

“MASSOB will also pressurize and insist on the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu of IPOB, Benjamin Onwuka of BZM and 23 Biafran detainees at Awka and Onitsha prison since 2006. We demand the unconditional release of our brother, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu (IPOB Leader and others) whose cases cannot be justified by Nigeria government. Their continued detention has exposed the incompetency and bias mind of Nigeria judiciary.”

“The more Nnamdi Kanu is being detained, the more Nigeria suffers diplomatic damages and shame. MASSOB will continue to partner with IPOB, lower Niger Congress and Biafran groups in diaspora for genuine agitation. We shall never relent as Nigeria persecution, arrest, detention and killings will never deter us from pressing for Biafra.”

“MASSOB said during the Conference, its leader, Comrade Madu will expose the evil plot against Biafra by Nigeria in collaboration with the British Government as evidently shown in the political structure of Nigeria which grievously and eternally subjected Ndigbo to political, religious, academically, economic, social and cultural slavery in Nigeria.”

Kanu was arrested in October 2015 and is currently being detained at the Kuje Prison in Abuja on charges of treason.
