Commotion in House of Reps over alleged attempt to suspend lawmaker
Jibrin has repeatedly called for Dogara’s resignation after accusing the speaker and other principal officers of budget padding.

The incident occurred when Chairman of the House Committee on Rules and Business, Emmanuel Orker-jev moved a motion accusing Jibrin of breaching his privilege and that of the House by raising allegations of budget padding.
Speaker, Yakubu Dogara recognized Orker-jev and permitted him to make his comments but as soon as he mentioned Jibrin’s name, members of the Transparency Group started shouting “No, no, no.”
Their shouts were followed by shouts of “Dogara, Dogara” from the speaker’s supporters who then started distributing green scarves with the inscription “I stand with Dogara.”
The motion in question was however said to have been passed and referred to the ethics and privileges committee.
Jibrin has repeatedly called for Dogara’s resignation after accusing the speaker and other principal officers of the House of padding the 2016 budget.
Dogara has however said he will not resign because padding is not an offence.
