Government denies donating land for grazing reserves

The Taraba State Government said it has not donated 5,000 hectres of land to the federal government for grazing reserve.

Minister of Agriculture, Mr Audu Ogbeh was quoted last week to have said that Adamawa, Gombe, Plateau, Kaduna, Katsina, Kano, Taraba, Niger, Sokoto, Jigawa and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) donated 5,000 hectares of land each for the proposed grazing reserve programme.But a statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to Taraba State Governor, Mr. Sylvanus Giwa, said the state has not donated any land for grazing reserves.

According to the statement, issued on Monday, June 13, 2014, Taraba State is not among the states that donated land for grazing reserves.
