In Sokoto Govt reintroduces attendance registers to check laxity, ghost workers

The Head of the state Civil Service flagged off the use of the registers in Sokoto.

Sokoto State Government on Monday reintroduced the use of attendance registers, to check the incidence of ghost workers and other violations of civil service rules.

The Head of the state Civil Service (HOS), Dr Buhari Kware, flagged off the use of the registers in some Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in Sokoto.

Kware told newsmen shortly after the exercise that it would also help the government in checking laxity and rewarding hard work.

”Henceforth, we will use these registers to know the actual workers who exist and report to duty punctually.

”The registers will also be vital in knowing workers who are lackadaisical to work and those who perpetually absent themselves from work.

” This is also to ensure that workers justify their pay, and workers will be paid only for the days they have worked for,” he said.

The HOS said that the registers would also play a part in the promotion of workers.

"Change is the in-thing," he said, urging the workers to embrace the action, aimed at changing the status quo.

Kware charged the workers to be disciplined, loyal and punctual.

”All the workers must sign-in by 8.30am and sign-out by 4.00pm, as well as discharge their mandates diligently,’’ he said.

The HOS expressed satisfaction with the turnout of workers in all the MDAs he visited.
