Former LG Chairman killed by unknown gunmen

Pirisola was shot dead on Friday, September 2, 2016, by unknown gunmen in what is believed to be an assassination.

“He was killed in the early hours of today (Friday) at about 3:00 am while returning from a branch of Celestial Church Of Christ at Ilutuntun in his hometown,” a source told Sahara Reporters.

“Yes, he was assassinated by yet to be identified gunmen and his body has been deposited at the Okitipupa General Hospital. We (Police) have begun our investigation into the murder case by interrogating members of his family,” a police officer said confirming the incident.

Pirisola’s tenure as local government chairman is said to have been marked by “bloody violence”.

The deceased was involved in a deadly “Environmental Sanitation” exercise in Igbotako, Okitipupa in October 2014 when he led soldiers to enforce the exercise in the community.

Four people were said to have died during that incident.
