FG pegs $1 at N160 for intending pilgrims in 2015

Opara made this known in Abuja on Monday while briefing State House correspondents shortly after briefing President Muhammadu Buhari on the activities of the commission.

The Federal Government has pegged one dollar at N160 for intending pilgrims to Israel and Saudi Arabia in 2015, Mr John-Kennedy Opara, the Executive Secretary, Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC), said.

Opara made this known in Abuja on Monday while briefing State House correspondents shortly after briefing President Muhammadu Buhari on the activities of the commission.

He said that Buhari had agreed to continue to support both NCPC and the National Hajj Commission.

The executive secretary further explained that the President agreed to encourage the two religious bodies to become self-sustaining by making pilgrims to pay their pilgrimage bills and thus remove government’s sponsorship.
