This public holiday was declared in commemoration of the Muslim festival, Eid-el-Maulud.
The statement was signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Magaji Abubakar, who also urged Muslim faithful and all Nigerians to pray for the peace and unity of the country.
