House of Assembly passes 2016 supplementary appropriation bill of N11.114bn

The Chairman of the committee has stated that the bill was necessitated by an additional inflow of‎  N11.114bn.

The House passed the bill after dissolving into the committee of supply, following the presentation of the report of the committee on planning and appropriation.

Chairman of the committee, Muhammad Lokogoma, noted that the bill was necessitated by an additional inflow of‎  N11.114bn.

“The 2016 supplementary appropriation  bill is made of N2.5bn bailout fund and N8.614bn budget support facility from the Federal Government.

“The bail out fund is for payment of outstanding salary arrears and other salary related expenditure while the budget support facility is to address debt servicing, pension and some capital projects," he said.

Lokogoma further stated that the bill has a recurrent expenditure of N6.465bn while the capital expenditure is N4.648bn, adding that the total budget for 2016 now stood at N96.206bn.

The Speaker of the House, thereafter directed the clerk to forward five clean copies of the bill to the governor for his assent.

NAN reports that the Niger State House of Assembly had originally passed into law a‎ budget of N85.092bn for 2016.

In a related development, the House also passed a resolution calling on the state government to domesticate the United Nations Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) which Nigeria has rectified.

The House passed the resolution following a motion moved by Hajiya Binta Mamman, the member representing Gurara constituency in the Assembly.‎
