Its National President, Dr Bassey Umoh, told newsmen on Sunday in Uyo that the bombing of installations in the Niger Delta had crippled Nigeria’s economy.
He stressed the need for the Federal Government to suspend military action in the region, saying it is not the solution to the current crisis.
Umoh said dialogue would enable the government and the Niger Delta Avengers come to terms with the problems facing the people.
According to him, the Middle Belt and the South-East geo-political zones have also been agitating for adoption of true federalism.
``When you look at the Niger Delta Avengers and their activities, you cannot just wake up and say you are going to crush it.
``Apart from the Niger Delta militants, we also have Indigenous People of Biafra, some groups in the Middle Belt and we have the Fulani herdsmen that are rampaging the country.”
He said that the people had expressed dismay in the past but added that the present level of agitation was unprecedented.
Umoh also expressed concern over the proliferation of arms not only in the Niger Delta region but across the country.
