In Nasarawa Police arrest alleged rapist, 2 robbery suspects

The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested and paraded alleged rapist and two robbery suspects.

Parading the two robbery suspects and one allege rapist in Keffi  Local Government Area of the state, the Police Public Relation Officer, Ismaila Numan, said they were arrested on Monday,  June 6, 2016.

He said the robbery suspects were apprehended by youth at Tudun Amama, when a woman raised an alarm that attracted the attention of the community who rushed for her rescue and got hold of the two suspects.

According to the police, Daniel Augustine, 23 and his friend Okere Nwatu, 22 were caught using a fake gun as they robbed the woman and collected the sum of N60, 000 and also attempted to rape her.

DSP Numan further explained that Augustine had been in prison for six months and was released two days before he was again arrested.

Numan also confirmed the arrest of an alleged rapist, one Abdullahi Saleh, who used a charm to lure a 25 year old married woman with a promise that she will get pregnant through spiritual means.

According the police command, Saleh forced the woman and had carnal knowledge of her.  

The suspected rapist later confessed to have lured the woman through a diabolic means and attributed the act to the devil, the police said.

"The rapist also impersonated himself as an officer with the police community relations committee, using their identity card," Ismail Norman said adding that the suspects will be handed over to the Police CIID in Lafia for further investigation before taken them to court for prosecution.
