The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has trained no fewer than 610 unemployed women and youths in various skills within the last three months in Nasarawa State, the State Coordinator, Alhaji Idris Wase said.

He said that 100 women out of the 610 trainees underwent training in cosmetology while 50 others trained in special computer software handling called Peachtree in July.

Wase told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lafia on Sunday that the skills acquisition programmes were designed to equip trainees with skills for self reliance.
"Another batch of 50 school leavers trained on environment beautification, 360 participants are currently on training in various vocational skills.
"We graduated another set of 50 women on beads stringing within the period," he said.
He attributed the different trainings in the state to the NDE Director-General, Malam Abubakar Mohammed, who approved the implementation of new programmes and schemes.
Wase urged the beneficiaries to use the knowledge gained to become self-employed and also train other,so as to reduce unemployment and poverty in the society.
He appreciated the Nasarawa State Government for cooperating with the directorate in the execution of its training mandate and called for sustenance.
Wase called for collaboration among stakeholders to tackle unemployment and youth restiveness in the country.
