Alhaji Musa Mua'zu, the Vice-Chairman, Kastina State Indigenes’ Association (South-West), on Sunday commended Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State for his dedication to confront security challenges in the state.

Mua'zu spoke against the backdrop of the state recent procurement of security equipment worth N4.8 billion which it donated to the Nigeria Police and the allocation earmarked for security in the state’s 2016 budget.

He told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that security was the most important need of the residents of the state.

"We must join others to commend Gov. Ambode for his efforts at improving security in the state because security of life and property of citizen is the primary responsibility of the government.

"The Hausa Community in Lagos State, especially the indigenes of Kastina want to commend the governor for empowering the police," he said.

He urged other states to emulate the efforts of Lagos State by increasing their budgetary allocations to security.

He admonished members of the Hausa Community residing in the state to be peaceful, law abiding and tolerant in all their dealings.

NAN recalled that Ambode on Thursday presented a budget of N662.58 billion for the 2016 fiscal year, which was N172 billion higher than the 2015 budget of N489.69 billion

The governor said that the budget would promote massive investment in security, transport/traffic management, physical and social infrastructural development and enhance job creation.

He said the increase in the budget would enable the government to focus on the present security challenges and areas prone to gridlocks in the state.
