The Kebbi State Government on Friday said it would establish an International Market at Nigeria-Benin Republic border to fast track the take off of a Dry Port in the area.

This is contained in a statement issued by Mr Abubakar Dakingari, Chief Press Secretary to Kebbi governor, Alhaji Atiku Bagudu, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Birnin Kebbi.

It said establishment of the market would enhance socio-economic activities and ensure sustainable development of the state.

It assured that basic and social amenities would be provided in the market, when established.

NAN recalls that Bagudu had met with President Boni Yayi of Benin Republic in Cotonou, during which they held talks on measures needed to stem disputes along the two country’s common border.

Atiku had informed President Yayi that the Kebbi government would establish a Dry Port at Illo, a border town with Benin Republic, to engender economic activities in the area.
