State government plans rehabilitation of 160 female drug addicts
The Kano State government has begun plans to rehabilitate 160 female drug addicts in the state.
This is part of the ongoing efforts to address drug abuse, Daily Times reports.
He mad this known when members of the Kano State Youths Awareness Against Drug and Other Related Crimes (KASYADAREC) paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House.
According to him, the step was being taken because the menace of drug abuse had transcended males, lamenting that not just young girls but even married women now engage in the unwholesome act.
The governor also explained that the admitted females would spend at least six weeks receiving medical attention and spiritual counseling to ensure they were adequately reformed.
Ganduje stated that the state Task Force Committee on Drug Abuse as well as Hisbah Board were collaborating with relevant national and international agencies in the crusade against the menace, hoping that KASYADAREC would join hands with such organisations in order to achieve the expected result.
