Local Government spends N16m on water projects

The chairman also commended the state government over the execution of water projects, provision of clinics, schools, roads and agriculture development programmes.

The Kafin-Hausa Local Government Council of Jigawa said it had spent more than N16 million on execution of rural water projects.

The Chairman of the council, Alhaji Bako Tamballe, told newsmen in Kafin-Hausa that the projects were executed in the 11 wards of the area in the last six months.

Tamballe said the projects include: the rehabilitation of broken hand pumps and obsolete power generators; construction of reservoirs as well as improvement of water reticulation system in small towns.

He said that most of the projects had been completed, while others were ongoing.

“The projects are designed to enhance water supply, promote hygiene and sanitation to improve public health,” he said.

He reiterated the council’s commitment to provide viable projects for sustainable development and urged the people to protect such facilities provided in their respective communities.

He said the gesture would encourage agricultural activity and improve social and economic well being of the people.
