Suicide bomber kills 5 in popular market

The first bombing went off at about 2:50pm on Sunday, February 1, at the entrance to the old market while the other occurred five minutes later at the timber market near the 301 Artillery Regiment Quarter Guard of the Nigerian Army.

Twin explosions in Gombe State have claimed five lives, according to reports.

The first bombing went off at about 2:50pm on Sunday, February 1, at the entrance to the old market while the other occurred five minutes later at the timber market near the 301 Artillery Regiment Quarter Guard of the Nigerian Army, Punch reports.

The initial attack was reportedly carried out by a male suicide bomber who killed himself and 2 others while the second explosion claimed the lives of three people.

The incident has been confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer for the state, Fwaje Atajiri who said that investigations are still ongoing.

A similar incident occurred in Yobe State on Sunday after a suicide bomber blew himself up outside the home of a federal legislator.
