4 men in police net for possessing human skull

Briefing newsmen, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Ekechukwu Nwodibo, said that the four men were arrested in a bus.

The police said in Enugu on Wednesday that they had nabbed four suspects in possession of a human skull on the Enugu-Abakaliki expressway.

Briefing newsmen, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Ekechukwu Nwodibo, said that the four men were arrested in a bus.

“We arrested these four men with a human skull but after thorough investigation, we discovered that one of them, John Igwe, was the real person in possession of the skull.

“The other three persons appear to be innocent and Igwe said that he was lured into the act by a friend who introduced him to a native doctor called Ifeanyi Nwanguji from Ohaukwu Local Government Area in Ebonyi,’’ Nwodibo said.

He said that Igwe had confessed to the crime, saying that he got the skull from a burial ground in Emene, Enugu State and that it would be used to prepare a medicament for stroke patients.

The commissioner also said that the command had achieved a lot within the one week he had been in office.

He said that the command arrested one Felix Onyebuchi who defrauded people through their banks and had succeeded in collecting an amount totalling N11 million.

“On Jan. 13, we arrested one Ben Akpudachie, 72, of Ogui Eke in Udi Local Government Area involved in child trafficking.

“Four teenage girls were rescued from the trafficker; they have undergone tests and the doctor confirmed that they were all pregnant,” he said.

“We also recovered three snatched vehicles, arrested the snatchers and averted two demonstrations that would have been detrimental to those involved,’’ he said.

The commissioner warned car snatchers, armed robbers and others engaged in different nefarious acts to desist from them as those caught would be made to face the law.
