Brother of Ex-DSS boss regains freedom

The Cross River Police Command has confirmed the release of Mr Asuquo Ekpeyong-Ekpe, the elder brother to the immediate past Director General of State Service (DSS), Mr Ita Ekpeyong.

Mr Hogan Bassey, the state Police Public Relations Officer, disclosed this on Monday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Calabar.

Bassey said that Ekpeyong-Ekpe, who was kidnapped on Sept. 5 by gunmen at Creek Town in Odukpani Local Government Area of the state, was released after a combined effort of the security agents in the state.

"Mr Ekpeyong-Ekpe has been released and united with his family. The police in collaboration with other security agencies have made some arrest in connection with his kidnap.

"I cannot tell you the persons we have arrested in connection with his kidnap, but very soon we will address the press on the successes made.

"I cannot as well tell you if any ransome was paid or not. At the fullness of time, we will address the press and clear the air’’, he said.
