This was confirmed by the spokesman of the Borno state police command, Victor Isuku.
Reports say two suicide bombers blew themselves up in front of the Sulemanti Mosque in Maiduguri.
Isuku said “A team of the Police Explosives Ordinance Department, EOD, has been deployed to the scene this morning near Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, depot.
“The people in the mosque took to their heels, while we challenged the explosives strapped suspects of their mission to the mosque, before these explosive exploded near the mosque and under this tree.
“It was God that saved us here; we would have been killed in the dawn suicide bombings.
“One of our members was injured by the shrapnel of explosives, including a woman with a leg injury. She has been taken to a nearby clinic for treatment this morning.”
The Nigerian Army also rescued over 5, 000 Boko Haram hostages and killed 10 terrorists in several clearance operations in the North East.
