The Commissioner for Environment in Borno State, Waziri Imam, is dead.

Imam died on Wednesday, September 28, at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital after a brief illness, Premium Times reports.

Imam will expectedly be buried within the next 24 hours in accordance with Islamic rites.

According to reports, Governor Kashim Shettima will attend the funeral ceremony despite recently relocating to Bama to supervise rebuilding efforts after a devastation caused by Boko Haram.

The state government is yet to officially confirm Imam’s death.
