7 confirmed dead as explosion hits wedding ceremony

The explosion is said to have occurred in the morning of Friday, May 29, 2015, at Tashan Alade in Hawul Local Government of Area of Borno State.


At least seven people have reportedly died in Borno State after a bomb went off at a wedding ceremony in the state.

“This morning at about 06:05am at wedding ceremony in our village where people gathered, the first blast occurred and some minutes later as people were trying to rescue the victims, another [blast] occurred some distance from the first one'' a local vigilante, Ibrahim Bitrus said.

''At least 7 people were dead as dozens were critically injured, I don't know if the groom is alive or not. There 'sconfusion now,” he added.

According to Sahara Reporters, a suspect has been arrested in connection with the incident.

The explosion and the casualty figure are yet to be confirmed by the necessary security agencies in the state.
