Benue State lawmakers engage in physical combat on June 23, 2015.

The Benue State House of Assembly has barred a reporter who filmed a combat session in its chamber from further covering its activities.

Pius Angbo, a journalist with Channels TV, was refused entry into the chamber on Thursday, June 25, 2015.

Angbo explained on the station’s programme, Sunrise Daily, that when he saw other journalists entering the chamber, he tried to go in but was told that the House Speaker, Terkimbi Kyange had specifically asked that he be excluded.

The Channels TV reporter had caught the legislators in action during a free-for-all on Tuesday, June 23, which resulted due to a disagreement regarding a leadership position in the House.
