About 100 persons have been reported dead in Anambra State after being burnt in a gas plant explosion.

The incident is said to have occurred in the Nnewi area of the state at about 11am on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2015, according to Vanguard.

The fire reportedly started at the office of Inter Corp Oil limited (LPG Gas Plant) while a truck was emptying its contents.

Most of the victims were said to be customers who were at the facility to refill their cylinders.

Some residents of the area and passers-by were also caught in the fire and reports say the blaze was so fierce that rescuers were unable to get access into the building.
