Kano LGC targets 50,000 children

Volunteer Health officials wait to immunise children at a school in Nigeria's capital Abuja.

The Council Chairman, Alhaji Saleh Rabiu, disclosed this in an interview with newsmen shortly after monitoring the ongoing Polio immunisation in some wards in the area.

He said that he was impressed with the level of commitment to the exercise in the area, urging parents to ensure proper immunisation for their children.

The chairman noted that the local government was committed to provision of quality healthcare services and infrastructural development.

However, Rabiu pledged to ensure healthy citizens in the area if the residents of the area support the efforts of the government.

The District Head of Dawakin Tofa, Alhaji Yusuf Nabahani, expressed the commitment of the traditional institution in polio eradication in the area as well as other child killer diseases.

The Primary Health Care Coordinator of the council, Malam Lawal Yahya, noted that the exercise had been commendable in the area in view of the commitment of the council and health personnel.

NAN reports that the October round of the Polio immunisation exercise had already commenced in the 44 local government areas of the state.
