Mr Ikeotuonye Chukwunonso, May & Baker’s Public Sector Officer in charge of North, made this known during the launching of the Programme held at Malkohi IDPs camp in Yola on Tuesday.
Chukwunonso said the cardinal objective of the programme was to complement ongoing government’s efforts at helping the IDPs maintain good healthy living condition.
“The company is targeting to de-worm about 10,000 under five children living in various Internally Displaced Persons Camps in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe.
“The programme is designed to complement Federal and State Governments efforts in providing good healthcare in various camps in the region.” Chukwunonso said.
In addition, he said the company had extended the programme with the distribution of hygiene and other sanitary materials to over 4,000 women IDPs in the camps.
He added that the target was to help the IDPs take care of themselves and the environment they live in.
The programme had the theme: ‘Let’s Give Everyone a Clean Hand’.
The Executive Secretary, Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA), Haruna Furo, who received the items on behalf of the IDPs, thanked the company for the kind gesture.
Furo urged other companies in the country to emulate the gesture as government along could not shoulder the challenges of the IDPs.
