Senate, Ndume disagree over EFCC boss’ confirmation

Ndume earlier told newsmen that the EFCC boss’ screening was suspended till all security concerns are addressed.

This is contrary to what the Senate majority leader, Senator Ali Ndume told reporters after a closed door meeting with President Buhari on Monday, December 19, 2016.

Ndume, who said the Senate did not reject Magu’s confirmation, told newsmen that the EFCC boss’ screening was suspended till all security concerns are addressed.

The Senate leader’s comment is in line with a Femi Falana’s stand that the Upper Chamber did not rejected the EFCC boss.

Falana said Magu was rejected by the executive session of the Senate, a decision which cannot be binding on the upper legislative chamber.

Meanwhile, the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, Prof Itse Sagay has urged President Buhari to re-submit Magu’s name to the Senate.

Sagay also said the allegations against the EFCC boss are weak and unsubstantiated.

Magu’s confirmation was rejected by the Senate following some allegations raised against him in a report authored by the Department of State Services (DSS).
