Roots and herbs can play a big role in medicine in Nigeria and the National Agency for Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) boss, Dr. Paul Orhii has said as much.

He made this known at the inauguration of VitaTree Nutritionals, a range of herbal-based products.

Said Orhii,

“The amazing findings on the efficacy of herbs are noteworthy. We now have herbs grow on graves of people who died of ailments such herbs could have cured."

Afterwards, he said VitaTree had passed NAFDAC's tests as well as received its approval even as the  firm’s President, Mr. Rockson Ogor said their products do not contain chemicals.

He further said the products had the ability to detoxify the internal organs and relieve the symptoms of toxicity in the human body.

Meanwhile, the Vice-President, Nutrition Society of Nigeria, Dr. Bartholomew Brai, who noted that Nigerians were becoming more health-conscious, urged them to further explore the use of fruits and other natural foods as medicines.
