The Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has said that no delegate from the state was involved in the deadly Hajj stampede which occurred on Thursday, September 24, 2015.

According to the 2015 Amir-ul-Hajj for Lagos, Dr. Abdulhakeem Abdullateef, all Lagos pilgrims have been accounted for via a head count.
“It was said by Saudi Authorities that the Nigerians that were involved are from the northern part of the country. However Iran, Pakistan and other Arab countries have the major casualties,” he said.
According to him, Lagos pilgrims will return to Nigeria between October 1 and October 6.

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), which provided the casualty figure, said that 15 Nigerian states lost pilgrims to the tragedy.
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered NAHCON to urgently account for all Nigerian pilgrims in Saudi Arabia due to the conflicting casualty reports being released.
