The Nigeria Bar Association in Jigawa, Friday sympathised with the Nigerian Judiciary over the death of two Justices of the Court of Appeal in stampede during the hajj rites.

The deceased, Justice Abdulkadir Jega and Justice Hassan Alkali, died in stampede during hajj rites last week in Mina, Saudi Arabia.

The sympathy message is contained in a statement signed by the State Chairman of the association, Mr Muhammad Turaki, and made available to newsmen in Dutse.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that over 747 pilgrims died and 804 others were injured in the stampede.

Turaki described the incident as "unfortunate".

He also commiserated with families of other pilgrims affected by the incident.

"On behalf of entire members of the association in Jigawa, I send our heartfelt condolences to the Chief Justice of Nigeria and the entire Nigerian Judiciary, over the death of the two Justices of Court of Appeal.

"We received the news of their death with shock, but in total submission to the will of Almighty Allah, at a time when they were performing the sacred duty of hajj.

"May Allah reward their deeds with Jannatul-Firdausi and give their families, the fortitude to bear the loss.

"Our condolences also go to other Nigerians, who lost their families in the Saudi incident,’’ he prayed
