Rivers among safest states in Nigeria — NGE

The editors were in Port Harcourt for 2017 All Nigeria Editors Conference (ANEC).

She made the assertion when editors in the country, under the umbrella of NGE, paid a courtesy visit to GovernorNyesom Wike in Port Harcourt.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the editors were in Port Harcourt for 2017 All Nigeria Editors Conference (ANEC).

Egbemode said that the fact that the 12th General Synod of  Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion and ANEC were being held in Rivers showed that the state was safe.

She added that the two conferences were holding simultaneously in Rivers, “a demonstration that the people no longer believe any propaganda against the state.

“Rivers is a hub of activities. Rivers is safe for businesses and conferences, as it is currently hosting hundreds of editors and bishops.

“This is the first time a state will be hosting the Editors Conference back to back.’’

Egbemode said the editors returned to the state, after the 2016 ANEC, because they were comfortable, felt safe and felt at home.

In his remarks, Governor Wike said Rivers was happy to host the editors for two consecutive years.

He urged them to remain committed to professionalism, adding that as watchdogs of the society, editors should help in the dissemination of information that would promote development.
