‘DSS was right to detain former NSA,’ Justice Minister says

Sambo Dasuki was allegedly indicted by a 13 man panel set up by President Buhari to probe arms purchase deals.

Former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki

The Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami (SAN) reportedly said the Department of State Service (DSS) did nothing wrong by detaining Sambo Dasuki in his house.

Malami said the DSS acted that way, because the former National Security Adviser refused to present himself for further investigation, regarding some issues connected to him.

The minister of Justice also said that the Federal Government's action against Dasuki was in the best interest of the nation.

Sambo Dasuki was granted an order to travel abroad for Cancer treatment by Justice Adeniyi Ademola of the Abuja Federal High Court, twice, but the DSS refused to obey the order.

The Judge, has also summoned the Minister of Justice, to explain why the order granted Dasuki was ignored.

Speaking to newsmen, the AGF said “In some of these cases, some of these high profile culprits may be involved in multiple cases that might require investigation. If you are granted bail in respect of one issue, and the need arises for further investigation in other criminal offences, the law of the land requires investigation and you are bound as a good citizen of the country to submit yourself to investigation.

“The interest of the nation reigns supreme above an individual’s interest. So when the national interest is at stake and it has to be investigated, individual interest naturally gives way.”
