The Minister of Interior, Retired Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau, has pledged to resuscitate the Nigerian Para-Military Games as a way of fostering unity and enhancing service delivery in the Interior Ministry.

Dambazau made the pledge on Thursday in Abuja when he presented medals to athletes of the ministry who won honours at the 2015 Federation of Public Service Games (FEPSGA).

The minister commended “Team Interior” for winning laurels at the FEPSGA held at Imo in 2015 and coming out as the most disciplined team at the competition.

He said as part of efforts to foster unity, mental alertness, understanding and enhance productivity in the ministry, the annual para-military games would be brought back to life this year.

``May I reiterate the ministry’s resolve to organise a comprehensive and a holistic Ministry of Interior annual competition involving all sportsmen and women in the ministry and the Services.

``The maiden edition of this re-packaged competition will hold in October as part of our efforts to foster unity and enhance service delivery,’’ Dambazau said.

He stressed the importance of sports to the health and productivity of civil servants.

Earlier, Haruna Paul, Team Manager of the ministry’s sports club, thanked the minister for the support for sports in the ministry.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the highlight of the event was the decoration of the ministry’s athletes with medals won at the 2015 FEPSGA.
