President travels to Daura on private visit

It is believed that the trip is as a result of the death of two of Buhari's close relatives last week.

He was said to have arrived the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Airport, Katsina, at about 4.22p.m on Thursday, February 15, 2018.

Reports said he may be in Daura till Sunday.

Buhari was received at the airport in Katsina by Governor Aminu Masari, the Emir of Katsina, Dr. Kabir Usman among other dignitaries.

He was flown to Daura in Nigerian Air Force helicopter, NAF-540 at about 4.40p.m.

Last Saturday, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu announced that Buhari lost two members of his extended family in quick succession.

One of the deceased HajiyaHalima Dauda was said to be the President's niece and younger sister to his close associate and nephew, Mamman Daura.

"She died at about the age of 56, leaving behind 10 children, four of them male and six female, including one of President Buhari's Personal Assistants, Mohammed Sabi’u Tunde," Shehu had said.

The second relative named Hajiya Ai’sha Alhaji Mamman died the same day.

She was the wife of the Buhari's older brother, Alhaji Mamman.

Both deceased were buried same day according to Islamic rites.
