President Muhammadu Buhari attends state dinner in Cameroon

President Muhammadu Buhari has said that no country can overcome the scourge of terrorism on its own.

Buhari made the statement on Wednesday, July 29, 2015, while speaking in Cameroon at a state dinner organized in his honour by President Paul Biya.

He said further that Nigeria and neighbouring countries must stand together to defeat and degrade Boko Haram terrorists in the sub-region.

Buhari’s comments were contained in a statement released by media aide, Femi Adesina on Thursday, July 30.

According to the statement, the Nigerian president said:

“We recognize that none of us can succeed alone. In order to win this war we need the collective efforts of each one of us, standing together as a formidable force for good, to defeat and end these acts of terror against our people."

“Let me assure all of my relentless pursuit of all possible means to safeguard Nigeria’s territorial integrity, protect the lives and property of our citizens as well as my commitment to continue to collaborate with Cameroon and our neighbours, within the framework of the Lake Chad Basin Commission.”

“The Federal government of Nigeria is committed to respecting international norms to resolve this matter and to restore normalcy to all the affected areas as soon as possible.”

Buhari is expected to visit the Republic of Benin on Saturday, August 1, for further talks on combating Boko Haram.
