'I won't marginalise any region,' President vows

Buhari has been criticised by Southern groups for alleged lopsidedness in appointments of heads of the various security agencies in the country.

President Muhammadu Buhari at the breaking of the Ramadan fast at the palace of the Emir of Daura, Katsina State, Dr. Farouk Umar Farouk on Sunday, July 3, 2016.

He stated this at the palace of the Emir of Daura, Katsina State, Dr. Farouk Umar Farouk, where he was hosted to mark the breaking of the Ramadan fast, Iftar.

According to them, the President's appointments did not reflect federal character and the diversity nature of the country.

Pulse recalls that majority of the heads of 14 out of the 17 security agencies in the country were appointed by Buhari, while three of the agencies are headed by Southerners.

But the President affirmed that he will not give room for discrimination of any kind, adding that no action will be taken for or against any section of the country on the basis of prejudice.

“Under my watch, no section of the country would either be discriminated against or marginalised,” Buhari said.

While calling for support and understanding of Nigerians in the rebuilding of the country, he reiterated the commitment of his administration to be honest, fair and just in the delivery of its duties.
