Governors urge President to solve economic crisis, agree to slash salaries

Yari said that the Governors would meet with President Muhammadu Buhari to find a solution to the economic crisis in the country.

 

Governors of the 36 states of the Federation under the aegis of Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) have agreed to reduce the salaries of political office holders as a necessary measure to cut down on the huge overhead costs of state governments.

This was announced by the Forum's Chairman, Abdulaziz Yari after a meeting held at the Banquet Hall of Presidential Villa on Thursday, Nov. 19.

Yari said that the Governors would meet with President Muhammadu Buhari to find a solution to the economic crisis in the country.

The Governors gave assurance of their commitment to ensuring a lasting remedy is worked out.

As earlier reported, the forum also commended the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) for imposing a N1.04 trillion on telecommunication giant MTN for flouting the Commission's directives.
