Troops of 7 Division Strike Group Team B and 22 Task Force Brigade have discovered an underground food storage facility belonging to Boko Haram.

This is following the discovery of a large cache of weapons worth N20m during a raid on the terrorists by soldiers in Borno state.

Army spokesman, Col Sani Usman said the storage facility was discovered by troops on Saturday, April 16, 2016, while carrying out an operation in Biggoro, Warpaya and Aura, north of Kumshe in Bama area of Borno state.

Usman said “The essence of the operation was to stop the reported criminal activities of remnants of Boko Haram terrorists hiding in the three villages. This became necessary as previous efforts were futile. The suspected terrorists kept coming in search for food, water and shelter.”

The Nigerian Army has also revealed that 800 Boko Haram fighters have surrendered to troops waging war in the North-East.

President Muhammadu Buhari also said the terrorists have been degraded to the extent that the group can no longer seize and hold on to any territory in the country.
