Terrorists kill 30 in Borno communities

The insurgents invaded Yakhari and Kachifa over the weekend killing 22 in the first village and eight in the second.

“The attackers killed 30 people in two separate attacks on the two villages last night (Friday) and this morning (Saturday)," a local vigilante fighter, Mustapha Karimbe, told AFP.

“The village of Yakshari was attacked at around 9:30 am on Saturday, with the assailants slaughtering 22 residents by slitting their throats before emptying food stores and taking away all the cattle. We believe the same gunmen carried out both attacks on the two villages,” he added.

The reports were confirmed by a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force who spoke to Sahara Reporters.

“[Boko Haram] has slaughtered twenty-two people in Yakhari village today, including children, and our food items were looted,” he said.

He also affirmed that eight persons had been killed in Kachifa village adding that the village was burned down and that “there is nothing standing there.”

The attacks come despite repeated claims from the Nigerian government that it has defeated Boko Haram.
