The Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadiq Abubakar, has announced that the Nigerian Airforce will acquire new weapons to boost its fight against Boko Haram.

He also said the Airforce had hit the terrorists hard, adding that the sect members no longer move anyhow they want.

Abubakar refuted reports that the Army ran away when the terrorists attacked a military barracks in Borno state.

He said "Then, Boko Haram was moving in convoys of 15 to 20 vehicles from one community to the other. Such a thing is not happening again today.

“I really do not want to comment on what happened on Monday because I don’t have details. But generally, I can tell you that we are making substantial progress in dealing with this problem. We are at the tail end of the Northern-east operations.”

The Airforce chief also said the logistics command was doing a good job. He also praised the efforts of his men involved in the fight against the insurgents.

Abubakar said "Training is a continuous process for every Air Force. From time to time, we have programmes we undertake to ensure our officers and men are in the best of shapes to be able to deal with secu¬rity challenges. It is just a routine training.”

The former Chief of Air Staff,  Rtd. Air Marshal Adesola Amosu returned the sum of N2.3b to the Federal Government.
