The Chadian Army has recovered Malumfatori town in Borno State, Nigeria from Boko Haram.

Chad’s troops were able to chase out the terrorists from the border town after a two-day battle, BBC reports.

The recapture of Malumfatori by Chad was confirmed by a senior official from Niger but it is not clear if the operation was approved by Nigeria.

Nigerian Director of Defence Information, Chris Olukolade however told Punch that Malumfatori fell within the area of operation of the Multi National Joint Task Force of which Chad is a part.

“Malumfatori is within the area of operation covered by the Multi National Joint Task Force of which Chad has always been a part,” Olukolade reportedly said in a text message.

Thousands of displaced Nigerians have sought refuge in Chad following attacks on their communities by Boko Haram.
