Army rescues 200 girls, 93 women from Sambisa Forest

According to the Defence Headquarters, the girls and women were rescued on Tuesday, April 28, 2015.

The Nigerian Army has rescued 200 girls and 93 women from Sambisa Forest, a Boko Haram stronghold.

It is however not yet clear if the missing Chibok girls are among those rescued.

The DHQ gave details of the rescue operation via a series of tweets:

“FLASH: Troops this afternoon rescued 200 girls & 93 women from #Sambisa Forest. We cannot confirm if the #ChibokGirls are in this group.”

“Troops captured and destroyed 3 terrorists camps including the notorious Tokumbere camp in the #Sambisa Forest Operation.”

The DHQ however said that the rescued persons are being profiled to determine their identities.
